Nick Herbert, President and CEO, founded the company in 1989. Mr. Herbert was soon joined by his current partners and board members, Bradford Hack, M.D., and Mr. Ben Trainer. The three individuals with diverse professional experience lend expertise in all aspects of the business from the early design phase to the actual product distribution.

Among the first products to be designed and developed by the company was the Steri-Shield helmet and toga system for use in the operating room environment. This unique product quickly established itself as the standard in providing overall protection for the orthopedic surgical team. From 1994 forward, the Stryker Corporation continued the ownership and distribution of the
Steri-Shield system to the hospital surgery departments worldwide. While Bio-Medical Devices, Inc. continues to manufacture components for Stryker, it also continues to serve the manufacturing needs of other notable corporations, such as Johnson and Johnson, Medtronic, ConMed, and others. Our design and manufacturing expertise has produced numerous other products ranging from staple guns and biological waste machines to innovative bone cement delivery systems.
